Heating food on the stovetop, in the microwave or conventional oven can cause permanent damage by scorching the bamboo. Bamboo should never be placed in area where high-heat could be a factor.

Never Put a Bamboo Bowl in the Dishwasher

The high-heat, pressure, and humidity inside a dishwasher can cause major damage to the bamboo bowl leaving you with the possibility of mold. Once mold is present the bowl must be thrown away. To prevent this situation it is best to always hand wash your bamboo bowls.

Never Soak a Bamboo Bowl in the Sink

Soaking a bamboo bowl in water will cause the bamboo to separate essentially ruining the piece. If hard food residue is present, try scratching it off with your fingernail. Never scrub with abrasive cloths or pads this will scratch the surface of the bamboo bowl.

Wash Immediately After Every Use

The bamboo bowl should be washed immediately after each use to prevent food from drying onto the bamboo. To wash a bamboo bowl use a soft, wet cloth to wipe the inside of the bowl making sure to get all food residues out. Never scrub with hard bristles. This could cause permanent scratches. Rinse the bamboo bowl with lukewarm water. Towel dry and set aside to completely air out.
